Twenty-two foot high ceilings! It's not every day you encounter those, but when you see the front door leading into Chic & Basic Born in our photo on the left, you'll understand how it's possible - what a giant! That said, it's common enough in this area of town, the very coolest district that Barcelona has to offer right now.
Nestled mid-way between the Born area, and the city park, and right in front of one of the best wine and cava shops in the city, you're probably in one of the best locations in the city. It's safe, it's close to the centre, it's in a fashionable district, the street itself is quiet, and there's a plethora of options in terms of places to eat, and bars to visit. Check out Bestiari restaurant just around the corner and the top-quality Comerc 24 just 30 seconds from here.
Just putting your nose inside the front door of Chic & Basic is enough to convince, quite frankly - it's a suave, white-lined and modern reception area, with curtains hanging from the top of those 22 feet, right to floor level.
Go for it, you won't be disappointed.
Chic & Basic has a total of 31 rooms.
What we like: It's cool, it's bright and airy, it's in a fabulous location, and the price is good.
What we don't like: very little really... maybe the metro could be closer, but it's no more than four to five minutes walk, and there's a choice of two (Jaume I and Arc de Triomphe).
